Intermitted Fasting Day 3

Day 3 of intermitted fasting and the first actual day of fasting. What an experience, WOW!, no just kidding, it was pretty uneventful, but not as difficult as I expected. A full 24 hour fast just is not really that difficult. It really only involves skipping 2 meals if you are just a 3 meal a day type person. Like many other things related to fitness and diet, once you decide you are going to succeed you just have to follow through.

My day started at 5:30 and I didn’t really notice feeling hungry until about 10:00. After that I did feel a little weak and shaking and I noticed that I seemed to fatigue faster, but this could have also been in my head. When I was busy and not thinking about what I was doing and my level of hunger I did not notice being tired or hungry.

Towards the end of my work day I noticed that I was pretty exhausted, which could also be due to night shift induced sleep deprivation. I took a little nap and when I woke up I did not feel the least bit hungry.

I drank 1 cup of tea and 3 cups of black coffee throughout the day. I am most certainly a coffee addict and see no reason why coffee would effect fasting in any other way than simply increasing energy. I tried to drink plenty of water but I seemed to dehydrate a little faster than normal.

I completed about 40 minutes of stretching for my workout, which went fine. I did not feel overly tired and seemed as flexible or maybe a little more flexible than usual. I am looking forward to trying a normal exercise routing on a fasted body. I am not expecting much from these workouts based on my experiences from the lemonade cleanse. Just walking at a 3 mph pace for 30 minutes was a huge challenge.

I weighed in at 199.2 a full 1.8 pounds lighter than yesterday. No real surprises here. You don’t eat and you weigh less. I am more curious to see how my body reacts when I start putting food back into it and how the long term weight loss plays out.

To break the fast I ate a pretty descent salad and stopped at that. One major goal is to break these fast better than I have in the past.

So far so good, as usual I am seeing that it is mostly mental. Though it may be a little early to say for certain.
