Intermitted Fasting Day 7

Day 7 of intermitted fasting has like the other days following the fast been anti climactic. I have noticed a few interesting things that may be related, fast weight loss not being one of them.

First, I only got about five and a half hours of sleep last night, which is far below what I need to normally feel well rested. Despite this I woke feeling refreshed and ready to go. I have spent most of the day thinking I need to take a nap but not really feeling tired. I do feel a little bit weary, but I think that is more related to running for the first time in a month.

Despite not running for a month I am relatively not all that sore. Considering that I ran a day after doing a leg workout I would have expected to to be more tired and have more soreness. The main discomfort I have noticed is joint tightness, which seems to be more related to lack of flexibility and age.

I have not felt all that hungry today but I have wanted to eat. So far today has probably been my worst nutritional day so far. No salad and a decent amount of junk. It is amazing how much the body craves junk. I do not even claim to like junk food and I have no problem refraining from a lot of processed foods but it is hard to stay away from sugary starchy goodness.

Still quite surprised at how easy a full day of fasting has been. It is almost easier not to eat at all than it is to try to diet and eat just a little bit. Kind of like the alcoholic that can’t drink just one drink. I am the foodaholic that can’t eat just one cookie.

I have read about the benefits of of giving your body a break. Essentially letting all of the processing mechanisms have a break and clear out the excess junk. Not so sure I follow this logic. In my opinion our bodies are made to process food so why would it need a break? Like fuel injectors that are not suppost to run on empty I am not so certain that our body is suppost to run one empty. On the flip side of this theory is that we evolved during a time of induced intermitted fasting and possibly starvation, so our bodies are actually more used to long periods without food than we give them credit for. This could be a big factor in the modern obesity plague.

Weighed in at 203.6, about 4 pounds heavier than yesterday, WTF. Not what I expected
