At times it feels like the stars must be alined for fast weight loss to be achieved. Sometimes without any prompting or for any reason a friend may comment that you look awfully trim, surprise surprise. Weight loss can be a tricky thing and it remains elusive for many people.
Having nothing better to do and always a little obsessively interested in health and fitness I have decided to experiment with the next greatest weight loss phenomenon. I have no idea if intermitted fasting will ever catch on but I hear that it can be an excellent way to loose weight, especially fat.
I will start out the experiment fairly loosely, not having anything to really form a reference as to how my body will react. The closest thing I have ever done is the lemonade cleanse which I found to be sorely disappointing. I will eat normally, which is lacto ovo vegetarian and supplement with whey protein, for 2 days and fast for one. At first I will attempt to drink only water and maybe coffee depending on my energy level.
I am expecting the hardest things to deal with to be the energy crash associated with not eating and not gorging when I do return to eating. I am not sure how my emotional state will hold. I the past during heavy dieting phases I have become quite depressed so I am curious to see if that can be avoided.
The experiment will last approximately 28 days and will be documented by weight loss and pictures. I unfortunately do not have the ability to take body fat percentage measurements.
I am hoping that the hype I have heard about this being a legitimate way to loose weight fast without loosing lean body mass to be true. I expect that it will be an effective way to loose weight but I am not convinced that it is really a very healthy or practical way to go about loosing weight. I don’t see many people having the will power to fast regularly or the ability to avoid the social conditioning that causes them to eat emotionally.
I will attempt to remain on a fairly strenuous full body weight lifting program with some treadmill running. If I do not have the energy to complete the workouts I will modify to more of a yoga type workout or take fast days off completely.
This will certainly be an interesting thought provoking experiment that is likely to have a few surprises. I expect that I will make changes as I go and if it becomes apparent that it is ineffective or detrimental to my health I will abort.

Can man live on fast food alone Morgan Spurlock tried to do just that. Diet
