I made an observation the other day about fast weight loss and why most people do not ever achieve the weight loss they desire. It is simple, they think the rules don’t apply to them or they think that the rules do not apply right now. Now is important, now is when it all happens and what matters is what you do now. You can set all the goals you want and talk about what you will do or should have done but what sets the winners apart from the losers is what they do with their nows.
One of the key components to fast weight loss is being hungry. Being hungry needs to be a signal to your brain that yes you are in the weight loss zone, not Dang I Need Some Food! Like I said it is what you do with the now.
I see too many people get inspired by a new program, set their goals, do the work and then hit the bar on the weekend, order appetizers and desert, or just pig out. It is needless to say that this is counter productive.
I am a big believer in the philosophy that it does not matter how much you eat in a certain meal as long as your daily consumption stays below your mark. If you want to do it with 6 meals great if you want to do it with one, well you better eat close to your workout but its doesn’t really matter in terms of weight loss. That said people focused on weight loss will often go out, especially on the weekend, and do the ole weekend warrior thing. They might hike 10 miles, or do a big bike ride, or hit a pickup game of football. What ever the activity, they overdo it, get hungry, and somehow forget that they are on a plan, forget about all of the work they put in, or as I said earlier, decide that the rules don’t apply right now.
I heard it said recently that it isn’t about what you do in the 3-7 hours you put into exercise every week it is about what you do with the 160 or so hours in the week. Weight loss is a constant battle and you have to be focused, determined, and consistent in order to reach your goals. Once you reach your goals, feel free to modify them but until you get there do your self a favor and stick to the plan.

Sally, you are absolutely correct, it shows that you’re an authority on the subject. I admire someone that takes the pride you have and with your projecton of information. oSo when i actually do sit down to read material, I appreciate well written and organized blogs like this one. I have it bookmarked and will be back. Thanks.
